Tennis Basics to Help Improve Your Game

There are various different aspects of tennis that you will need to work on if you are starting to play tennis. Here are some tennis basics that you will need to follow, including serving, the grip that you use for hitting the ball and the motion you use for hitting the ball.

First, let’s look at the serving process that you will need to use. This is one of the tennis basics that is especially important because with good serving skills you can improve your game and be less likely to lose out due to poor serves. There are three different types of serves that you can use. The flat serve is used when the ball is hit with a flat trajectory with a slight level of spin. The topspin, another form of serving, requires a high trajectory and a high bounce for the serve. The third type of serve is the slice, which uses both sidespin and topspin to help get the ball to curve slightly in the air after the ball is hit.

When you do go up for the serve no matter what you use you will need to have your feet apart by the shoulders and you knees will need to be bent. Your feet should be two feet away from the center mark of the court. When you throw the ball upwards for the serve the ball should be thrown up front higher than your racquet can get to so that it will be hit easily.

The grip for hitting the ball is one of the tennis basics that you will need to use. The grip that you use should have the most wrist movement potential so that you will be able to get the ball to move around the way you want it to through your hitting motion. Also, the feet should be pointed towards the target that you are going to be hitting the ball to.

The motion for hitting the ball is one of the tennis basics that you should especially focus on. First, when serving the ball you will need to put your weight to the ground and keep your front knee up front. The racquet and tossing arms should align too. When the ball comes downward you will need to move your elbow upward with your opposite arm dropping away from the side.

At all times your hitting method should use a conventional grip so that you can get the movements you use to work. The hitting motions should be done in the direction of the target that you want the ball to be hit to.

These are some of the tennis basics that you should use when playing tennis. If you are starting out with tennis then you should definitely use these tennis basics so that you can play the game correctly and be more successful.
